Curriculum vitae

Carina Almeida completed her PhD in Environmental Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon in 2019; a Master's in Environmental Engineering - Water Management and Rural Improvements, at Instituto Superior de Agronomia, University of Lisbon in 2008. She is currently Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of Lusófona University and Visiting Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior de Agronomia, University of Lisbon. She has participated in more than 20 national and international conferences, and she published 15 articles in international and national specialized journals. She is also a guest reviewer for the Elsevier (Journal of Hydrology: Regional Studies; Ecological Indicators) and MDPI journals (Climate; Water; Sustainability) and guest editor of 2 special issues. Since 2009 she is a researcher in numerical modeling, water resources management and climate change. In the past years, has participated in several national and international consultancy and research projects with application of her research area in several countries such as Portugal, Greece, Netherlands, Spain, Mozambique, Swaziland, India, Pakistan, Brazil, São Tomé e Príncipe, among others. She is a member of the Management Committee of the International Water Association (IWA) River Basin Management Specialist Group; member of the APRH Specialized Commission for Water Quality and Ecosystems, Ambassador of the European Climate Pact of the European Commission, and more recent member of the Steering Committee for the biennium 2023/24.
