The Food Biotechnology research area is dedicated to the development of nutraceutical foods, which represent an expansion of the range of health-enhancing products currently available. The objective is to develop innovative solutions that bridge the gap between nutrition and medicine. These nutraceuticals are designed to provide additional health benefits beyond basic nutrition, supporting areas such as disease prevention, immune function, and overall well-being. By harnessing bioactive compounds from natural sources, a more diverse and effective portfolio of health-promoting foods can be created, tailored to meet varying dietary needs and improve quality of life.
